PBX Master Cable

Article Number: I007
Article Type: Info
Modified: November 23, 1998

SUMMARY

This article describes the cable requirements to interface an Athena Access FXS Voice Module and a UK Telephone by way of a PBX Master cable.

The FXS module available for the Athena Access does not provide direct interface support for UK-based, BT-approved telephones. These telephones require the use of a PBX Master cable in order to present the ring voltages on the proper pins of the telephone interface.

This same cable also serves to provide the proper connectorization between the telephone and Access.

Without this cable, you would experience the following symptoms:

  • Telephone handset does not ring when an incoming call is presented.
  • Lifting the handset will answer this unannounced call.
  • If the handset is lifted when there is no call, a normal dial tone may be heard.
